Disorders that are musculoskeletal and affect the entire body are debilitating and inhibit patients from living a normal, active lifestyle. At City Sports we are dedicated to using non-surgical treatments to reduce pain and help patients start enjoying life again.
Osteoarthritis:
Also known as Degenerative Arthritis or Degenerative Joint Disease, Osteoarthritis is a disorder that causes the degradation of cartilage in joints. As a result patients suffer from joint pain and stiffness, locking of the joints and often a loss of motion. Unlike other types of arthritis, Osteoarthritis only affects the joints and no other parts of the body.
Fibromyalgia:
This is a musculoskeletal disorder that affects the way in which the brain processes pain sensations, resulting in amplified pain throughout the body. Fatigue, memory loss and volatile mood swings are also symptoms of this disorder, which are often accompanied by other ailments such as tension headaches, anxiety and depression.
Nerve Entrapment Disorders:
Nerve Entrapment Disorders are caused by prolonged compression or entrapment on your peripheral nerves and can be apparent in both your sensory and motor nervous systems. Symptoms of these disorders include chronic joint point, tenderness and loss of function. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Cubital Tunnel Syndrome are two of the most common types of Nerve Entrapment disorders.
Overuse Injuries:
These types of injuries are the most common and account for approximately half of the bone and muscle injuries treated by doctors each year. Habitual overuse causes tendons and muscles to become inflamed and ultimately tear and bones to become weakened and eventually break. Symptoms include swelling, pain with activity, soreness and a decrease in strength.
